I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Hello, folks!

So, thanksgiving is long ago and in this time there happened a couple of things:

  • Last week in our french class we had a pretty cool street-art project with sticky-notes.

  •  Then we did have two swim meets. At both meets we got the second place.

Thanksgiving...

Thank you America that you have such a awesome, great, and nice tradition. And thanks to my family for this big meal and the nice evening.
I will never forget how much food we had and how good it was. It was really funny yesterday and I hope it wasn't my last Thanksgiving.
Before we started to eat, Tarik told us about the first Thanksgiving and why we are celebrating this in America. Then was the time that everybody needs to say "Thanks" for something in the last year and what he wishes will happen in the next year...
Let's eat...

Unfortunately, I don't really remember all kinds of food we had, but let me try it:
-turkey (10.74 lb)
-stuffing
-corn
-carrots
-green beans
-vegetables (Brussels sprouts, cauliflower,  broccoli)
-cranberries
-bread
-quiche
-pumpkin pie, carrots cake,...

[...]whose broad stripes and bright stars[...]

That is the beautiful fall in Ypsilanti. So the leaves are very colorful and the sun is pretty deep So many colors, here, and this brightness make it to a real optical pleasure.  But unfortunately, it becomes colder and colder and I think it doesn't take this much time till we will have snow, here...
And I am very excited how this will look like...

This is a real international guy:

My brother...from the Dominican Republic and India, born in the USA, wearing a Germany-hat and the flag of the United States of America.

I love him!

I think everybody knows the film: "Charlie and the chocolate factory", but have you ever thought that there are "Wonka-candies" in the reality...?!

Thank you to YFU and to all my international friends. This was the best Halloween-Party I ever had.
We had so much fun and I looking forward to the next party...

Only that you know: I am in the right of this picture and I went as a computer-wizard.

School-Impressions

Some crazy things where all Germans will think: "What a heck?"

American grading system:

A+  100%
A    93-99%
A-   90-92%
B+  87-89%
B    83-86%
B-   80-82%
C+  77-70%
C    73-76%
C-   70-72%
D+  67-69%
D    63-66%
D-   60-62%
F     59% and below

-In the morning you come to school. Your first class is french. So you come into the room and on the board you can see a YouTube-video and the teacher is dancing in front of the class to this musicvideo.

-In class. Everybody knows that you aren't allowed to use your cellphone but everybody use it and in a way that the teacher can see it...but the teacher doesn't say anything.

-In class. The teacher is explaining something and a student goes to the teacher's desk on his personal Mac Book Pro from the high school and opens a YouTube-video without asking the teacher.
Teacher: "Nice music, but not so loud, please."

-Teacher to me: "Can you turn off the lights, honey?"
"Honey" ........???....... :P

-Math 11th grade. Teacher: "So guys, we have to do very difficult stuff, today. So be concentrated, please." (A)²-(B)²=(A-B)(A+B)     --> (Germany: 7th grade)

-French 11th grade.
topics: Bonjour, Je m'appelle..., J'aime, Je n'aime pas...  --> (Germanny: 6th grade)

RESPECT TO TEACHERS?? ->

-Student  has a question: "Yeah, teacher...!"
(without raising any hand)

-Student to teacher in class: "Yeah, teacher... I need to check my PowerSchool (digital gradebook), E-Mail,..."
Teacher: "OK, do it."

-(date: 10-3-12) a teacher to me: "Today is 'German Unity-Day', isn't it? So every school in Germany is closed."
Me: "Yes that's right, today is the..."
Teacher(now to the whole class): "Ok, folks. Today we will have an examination."

-> ALL THESE STORIES AREN'T FAKES. THEY WERE PASSED.

So, here you have the typical american yellow school-buses.
Every body asks me..."How is school?" "Is it very difficult?" "Where do you have problems?"...

So I can say that the high school has a very, very easy level. The onliest thing being difficult for me is that -> everything is in english.
My friends in high school call me a genius because I understand everything in french, physics, PreCalc (Math) and Economics.
At the first day in my high school I had PreCalc and I saw the book. Here, I am in the 11th grade. And everything which was written there we had in the 7th grade in Germany. -> No Joke!

Here is a proof:

My main-work here in the last time was fixing computers...
Only in the last week I fixed 25 calculators and 3 computers.

Opi, it's only for you... I have never eaten before such a dark chocolate ice-cream!!!
-> really great

american football!!!...

Michigan Football vs. Air Force

Go! Blue!

Fortunately, Michigan won with 31 to 25!!

It can be dangerous if you wear a green shirt by a michigan football match...
Michigan has the colors: blue and yellow!!!

So here are my first impressions...

After a long day with very stressful flights I' am here in the USA.
At the airport, I was very warmly welcomed by my host-family.
After 20 minutes waiting I have got my luggage and then we drove at home.
I had dinner and a short tour for learning the house and then I fall in my bed and sleep instantly.

The next day my family gets the presents and I think they like them...
Damian and me have driven to a mobile-shop and we have bought a sim-card for my cell-phone.
It's more expensive here than in Germany!!

For lunch, Damian and me drive to a mexican restaurant and we have eaten very big burritos.

BTW the food here at home is very delicious. Dibya is a very good cook.

At the afternoon Damian shows me his work... And I have the "great pleasure" to participate at a meeting  (1 and a half hour!!) and heard new results of a researcher for bio-informatics.

Today I woke up very early so I think -> I slept 12 hours!!
Unfortunately I still have jet lag...

Damian, Tarik and me, we used the day for looking for a bicycl for me but that is a very difficult task...
to find a bike with the right frame-size and with a good color.

So all in all my first impressions are very great.
I usually wake up with chipmunks and I have a computer-friend for having funny discussions.

Pictures will follow something later.
